Achalasia Cardia

Barium meal X-ray: It shows the appearance of the corkscrew esophagus. It may show the absence of gastric air bubble. In advance cases, esophagus becomes dilated and lower portion become slender.

Oesophageal Manometry: It shows the pressure in the esophagus is higher than normal and may be equal to atmospheric pressure.

Endoscopic is essential to rule out the carcinoma.

Timed Barium Esophagogram (TBE) is a test to determine the oesophageal emptying.
